National Philharmonic Concerto Competition – October 7, 2007

Eligibility Requirements:
Open to all high school instrumentalists playing a traditional orchestral instrument (not piano).

Prize:
Up to three winners will appear as soloists with the National Philharmonic at concerts for young students on November 2008 at the Music Center at Strathmore.  Application deadline will be announced soon.

Competition judges have complete discretion in determining the winners or not selecting any winners should no participant meet the minimum performance standard required.

 
Application:
1. Only highly qualified fully prepared candidates should apply.
2. Application is due no later than September 21, 2007 along with a $35 fee payable to the National Philharmonic.
3. Application must be accompanied by a resume and a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s private teacher.
4. Candidates will be pre-screened before the actual competition based on application credentials. Applicants who are not invited to compete based on the pre-screening of credentials will receive a full refund of the application fee.
 
Competition Requirements:
1. One movement, less than 10 minutes in length, of a solo selection that has an available orchestral accompaniment.
2. Soloist must provide an accompanist for competition.
3. Solo must be memorized.
