A native of Montgomery County, MD, Maury spent many years abroad as a professor, dean, consultant, and board member, primarily in the UK, France and Switzerland. Originally trained as an engineer and musician, he has also been musical director of amateur theatrical productions in the US and Europe. Maury returned to Washington as Dean of George Mason University’s School of Business in 2017 and is now Senior Fellow in the Office of the Provost. He has written or edited six books and numerous research and practice-oriented articles and is frequently quoted on topics such as careers, leadership, and global business. He is currently a director of Freedom Bank (VA), the Greater Washington Board of Trade, and the Appel Farm Arts and Music Campus (NJ). He also sits on the Alumni Council of the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate Board of the Princeton Quadrangle Club.
