December is the time for the best holiday traditions! Join us for the ultimate holiday classic, Handel’s Messiah, as guided by guest conductor Anthony Blake Clark. The dynamic and passionate maestro is known as a leading voice among his generation of choral conductors.
Get ready to be lifted up by the joyful sounds of the National Philharmonic, the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and four exceptional soloists as they perform the quintessential music of the season.
This concert features a reunion of soloists celebrated for their past interpretations of this dramatic oratorio. Soprano Aundi Marie Moore is the 2023 Sphinx Medal of Excellence honoree, an award that recognizes extraordinary Black and Latinx classical musicians. Mezzo soprano Lucia Bradford’s performance in the Messiah has been celebrated for her “startling ornamentation”, “luscious musical phrasing” and “dramatic force” (Washington Classical Review). Baritone Jorell Williams has been called “a rock solid singer with a keen understanding of his own expressive depths” (The Washington Post). The Dallas Morning News declared Norman Shankle “an uncommonly warm and liquescent tenor”.
Allow these inspiring vocalists to lead you in an inspiring journey through one of the greats of classical music. No holiday season is complete without it!
